The vanishing soul of living heritage

Gunla, which starts from the first of the bright fortnight of Shravan, is a holy month for Newar Buddhists. This month is full of festivals and traditions where people visit different chiba/chaitya and thur to perform devotional songs. However, these ancient practices are no longer performed in most of the communities as most of these monuments are in a state of abandonment. Chaitya/chiba and thur/stupa are lifeless without these traditions.
